I have mixed feeling about the lesbian, gay-type lovers line. Yes, it's awkward and invites eye-rolling, but it's nice to hear her say it so specifically to someone. And it's such a Willow thing to say.

Stephanie: I tried not to think about that line about the choir but it is marginally better than "We're lesbian, gay-type lovers". And "some of my best..." what? Friends? ap: I do like Anya. I missed out the line about role playing: "You know, like, say there's a fireman, or a shepherd..."

Spot on with that whole commentary, girl! The birthday scene dialogue makes me just irrationally happy every time I see it. And I find myself saying, "I wish it were mine" in gift-giving situations, which, of course, just makes people think I'm odd.

Though I guess the gesture is sweet, when Buffy does that thing with the blood and holding Dawn's bloody hand all I can think of is, "Gross! Gross and unsanitary." Speaking of characters overhearing the bad part of a conversation, I can't believe how not surreptitious Buffy, Giles, and Joyce are during this season when they have talks about Dawn. What did you think about Willow's "Preachin' to the choir here, baby" line? Is it as bad as the usual "Willow is gay" references? I'm curious about how Tara was going to finish her sentence before she sees Dawn with the knife and the blood. I also think that MT is very good in this episode though she doesn't seem quite frightened enough of Glory. I don't mind her "Get out, get out, GET OUT!" in this episode, but it's a little over the top when she does it again in "Older and Far Away."
