As you say, a lot of the plot is advanced in this episode - Spike and Buffy getting it on, Tara finding out Willow has wiped her mind and Buffy revealing the truth about her death. Each song also highlights exactly where Also, I love musicals and well done choreography. Xander summoning the demon makes no sense. There is no hint that he summoned it and why wouldn't he own up earlier when he knows people are dying? That's unlike him. So yes, your suggestion does make sense. I didn't notice the lack of dress rufflage, but now that you've pointed it out, hmm, dodgy. I blame the network.
