The violence was depressing and bothered me an awful lot. The corn <em>was</em> occasionally too corny. The committal scene was frustrating because it made no sense that Longfellow would just sit in silence, letting the big-city-folk railroad him like that. And actually that whole big-city/small-town thing is a bit annoying...Jean Arthur <em>was</em> great though.
